TRICK or TREAT, HAPPY HALLOWEEN !

We wish all to
have a safe and happy Halloween for our children, friends and guest. Using
safety and common sense can help you make the most of your Halloween season,
making it as enjoyable for your kids as it is for you!
Make Halloween a fun, safe and happy time for your kids by going over some
safety tips and they'll carry on the tradition that you taught them to their
own families some day!

For
Trick-or-Treaters
|
Carry a
flashlight or glow in the dark stick.
Walk, don't run.
Stay on Sidewalks.
Obey traffic signals .
Stay in familiar neighborhoods.
Don't cut across yards or driveways.
Wear a watch you can read in the dark.
Make sure costumes don't drag on the ground.
Wear comfortable shoes. (even if they don't go with your costume)
When walking don't wear masks or raise above your eyes while going from house
to house.
Carry only flexible knives, swords or other props.
Walk on sidewalks or walk on the left side of the road facing
traffic
Tie a glow stick to the back of your child's costume or wear
clothing with reflective marking tape or reflectors.
Only approach houses that are well lit.
Be careful with pets, don't pet or play with animals you don't know.

For Parents |
|
Have your child eat dinner before setting out.
Children should carry coins so they can call home.
Write your name, address and telephone number on a piece of paper
and give to your child.
Young children of any age should be supervised by an adult.
If your children go on their own, be sure they wear a watch,
preferably one that can be read in the dark.
Use a costume made of flame-retardant material.
Older children should know where to reach you and when to be home.
Know where your kids are going.
Tell children to bring their candy and treats home to be inspected before
consuming.
Look carefully, throw out any candy that looks suspect.
Know your
neighbors.

For Homeowners |
|
Make sure
your yard is clear of ladders, hoses, dog leashes and flower pots or
anything that can trip the young ones.
Keep Pets in secure area of house, they may get frightened by
Halloween trick or treat greeters.
Use a battery powered Jack O'Lantern candle instead of a real flame.
Candle use; place pumpkin well away from where trick-or-treaters
will be walking or standing.
Make sure paper or cloth yard decorations won't be blown into a
flaming candle.
Healthy food alternatives for trick-or-treaters include packages of
low-fat crackers with cheese or peanut butter filling, single-serve
boxes of cereal, packaged fruit rolls, mini boxes of raisins and
single-serve packets of popcorn that can be microwave later.
Non-food treats: plastic rings, pencils, stickers, erasers, crayons,
coloring books, coins.
