The Central Receiving Facility
The Central Receiving Facility is the facility where inmates are
received. Inmates are generally held in this facility pending their
release or first Court appearance. If the inmate will be in custody past
their first Court appearance, the inmate is generally transferred to one
of the Facilities at the Lerdo Complex. |

The Lerdo PreTrial facility
The Lerdo PreTrial facility is the largest facility in the Kern County
Jail System. It holds inmates that are awaiting a Court hearing and
inmates serving County Jail Commitments. The facility holds inmates that
for whatever reason, are not compatible with the lower security setting
of the Lerdo Minimum Facility

Lerdo Minimum Security Facility
The Lerdo Minimum Security Facility is located in the Lerdo Complex and
houses approximately 900 male inmates and 100 female inmates. The
facility is comprised of multiple “barracks” of between 30 and 40
inmates. The Lerdo Minimum Security Facility is the oldest facility at
the Lerdo Detention Complex. The facility dates back to the 1940’s when
it was classified as an industrial road camp under the jurisdiction of
the County Roads Department. In 1970 the minimum facility was turned
over to the supervision of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.

Lerdo Max-Med Facility
The Lerdo Max-Med facility is part of the Lerdo Complex. It holds
overflow inmates from the Pre-Trial Facility. The facility has a
capacity of 364 inmates, but is currently not in full operation.

Ridgecrest Jail Substation
The Ridgecrest Jail operates as a receiving facility for inmates
arrested in the Ridgecrest area and as a Court Holding Facility in
support of the Ridgecrest Branch of the Superior Court. Because of the
facility's size (14 beds) and intended operation, the facility does not
offer the range of inmate services available at other facilities.
